The E Major Ensemble, established in mid-2016, is the first of its kind in Hong Kong with elders members or retired citizen at the age of 50 or above. At present, the Ensemble has nearly 60 members cross the departments of String, Woodwind, Brass, Percussion and Keyboard, performing mainly Western classical pieces. Our members share different music stories of their own: some started learning to play a musical instrument only after retirement, while some played since a young age, yet had to quit halfway due to work or other considerations. They all join the ensemble to reignite their passion and fulfill their dreams in music.

By providing them with regular trainings and staging opportunities, the Ensemble members will be able to enhance their musical appreciation abilities and performing techniques. With frequent rehearsals and on-stage performances, the Ensemble enables its members to elevate their musical techniques, living truly our motto of “In Music we Dream".

The Ensemble played a wide array of classical pieces at its debut concert in 2017 in collaboration with Jean M. Wong School of Ballet and Yip's Children's Choir. In 2018, with the support from Jockey Club New Arts Power, Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Ensemble held the "The Giving Tree" Concert with four young musicians from Music Lab, including KJ Wong (Piano), Stephen Lee (Flute), Samuel Au (Violin) and Anthony Wah (Saxophone). The fantastic performance received a big round of applause from the audience. The Ensemble aims to spread the greatest joy of music through all the performing opportunities.
